"Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!" (Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky ORIGINAL TEXT)
Be aware of politician’s promise, my son!
The tongue that convince, the promise that lies!
Beware of corrupt and unethical politician and speak the truth,
For the truth will set you free. (MY INTERPRETATION)
This is how I reflect the second stanza based on how I understand it. I just simply relate it to the arena of politics, for 2013 national and local election is fast approaching. I believe that my fellow Filipinos have painful experience because of many promises of politician whom they cannot stand with their own promises. In fact, promises are not suppose to be broken and it depends on a politician if he or she can stand with his or her promises for public service. Comments, opinions or violent reactions are always welcome if it is grounded on the objective reality wherein he or she can qualify it. As of the moment, politicians start in visiting different places and attending any events so that the people can easily recognize them when the campaign period has started.
This is the reason why I come up to relate the second stanza of Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky in the present political system in the Philippines, simply to remind and inform the people to vote wisely of this upcoming 2013 national and local election. Let us be reminded that we Filipinos have the right to vote and voted upon based on the Article IX, the right to suffrage in the 1987 constitution. The coverage or the scope and limitation of this right must be delivered and discussed properly to the people so that when time comes, they may be guided with their inalienable right under the existing law. Exercising such vote plays a vital role for the improvement and for the better political system in the Philippines.
Think of thousands or millions of Filipinos who got dismayed and desperate with most politician but not all, in proving their political platform keeping and that even a single project they cannot present, how much more to sustain it.
